A return trip with a start in the gastronomic town, Franschhoek followed by a visit to the wine district around the wine capital, Stellenbosch. A visit to vineyards in Botriver and then on to the scenic coastal town of Hermanus and end the trip in one of the world\u2019s most beautiful cities, Cape Town. <\/p>\n\n\n
Franschhoek is situated in one of the world\u2019s most beautiful wine valleys. More than 300 years ago the French Huguenots settled in the Franschhoek region and brought with them their winemaking and food knowledge, which today has resulted in Franschhoek being seen as South Africa\u2019s gastronomic capital. It was only when the French Huguenots arrived in South Africa, that the wine culture took off and with their knowledge they laid the foundation for today\u2019s South African wine industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Stellenbosch <\/strong>is known as South Africa\u2019s wine capital and the town of Stellenbosch (with its wine regions) was the first to establish a \u201cwine route\u201d in 1971. This is where many of the country\u2019s most popular wineries are located and they are well worth visiting.<\/p>\n\n\n The Hermanus wine region has grown and now have its own attractive wine route. Visit the beautiful Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, one of the most southern wine districts in Africa, where several of the country\u2019s top winemakers are specialising in the production of some of the country\u2019s best Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Many of South Africa\u2019s best wineries are located in Botriver (20 minutes drive from Hermanus) and are well worth visiting. If you are lucky, you can get a sip of wine straight from the barrel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Visit the often unexplored and idyllic town of Stanford (10 minutes drive from Hermanus) which was founded in 1785 and named one of Africa\u2019s best-preserved cities. Enjoy a delicious organic lunch on one of the beautiful surrounding farms.
