Upplev Sydafrika arranges wellness trips to Hermanus in the Western Cape Province.

We turn to a wide target group which would like a little more out of their trip through the combination of wellness/health week (please see the different programs) with culinary and exciting experiences in a beautiful natural setting.

Health is about a balance in life and why not take the opportunity to combine a sound, active wellness/health week with fantastic gourmet experiences in wonderful surroundings. Among the wellness/health activities you will be able to enjoy the sun, nature and experiences in beautiful Hermanus.

Below you will find a list of different wellness/health programs which you can combine with gourmet, culture and nature experiences:

Program 1 – Exercise/training and diet:
During a week, you will receive wellness/health guidance and coaching from a Swedish trained health councelor. An hour a day is dedicated to individualized exercise/training. Every other day you will be invited to participate in a basic theory related to health, exercise/training, diet & diet balance (what your current diet appears like and how you can combine your diet with physical activity, etc.). You will receive help in identifying realistic targets related to exercise/training as well as support and a “push” to reach your targets. Program 2 – Stress & stress management:
During a week, you will receive health counceling/coaching from a Swedish trained health councelor. During an hour every day we will offer different massage and spa treatments suited to your individual needs. Every other day, you will be given the opportunity to take part in a basic theory lecture about health, stress & stress management (recommendations and tools which can help you work with and manage stress). Program 3 – Yoga trips:
During a week, an hour will be dedicated every day to yoga instructions. You will receive help to improve your practices of hatha and vinyasayoga. Yoga is about finding your balance between body, soul, mind and to come in contact with your spirituality. You will be invited to participate in an extensive training of your strength, motion and balance as well as breathing, relaxation and concentration exercises. With us you are able to book a trip with an accompanying Swedish yoga teacher or take part in a yoga trip with a local English speaking teacher. Sarah Jonsson

Health councelor/instructor/teacher:
Our active health councelors/instructors/teachers are oriented to different areas within wellness/health. Together they possess a solid education and considerable experience in guiding/coaching people in all aspect of wellness/health. They also possess a great passion for what they do. Below you will find a short description of each councelor/instructor/teacher.

Sarah Jonsson, Behavioral specialist
Sarah is a Behavioral specialist, graduate in psychology and is also a certified wellness consultant specialized in stress management. Since 2001, Sarah has instructed yoga at different studios and companies around the Stockholm area. In recent years, Sarah has spent a lot of time in San Francisco and New York and has immersed herself in the teachings of many of the world’s leading yoga teachers. Besides the classic hathayoga and vinyasayoga, Sarah also teaches the more therapeutic yoga forms such as yin and restorative.

Sarah is responsible for teaching yoga in program 3 – Yoga Trips.

Malin Engström

Malin Engström, Health Counselor
As a Health counselor and a graduate of public health, Malin has worked as a consultant and has been responsible for diverse health projects, including programs for the Swedish Armed Forces. Malin has many years experience of councelling/coaching both beginners and elite athletes within health with a focus on individualized exercise/training, diet and stress/stress management. Malin has 16 years experience within the training industry and is a certified group instructor. She is also a certified classic masseur.

Malin is responsible for health councelling in program 1 – Exercise/training & diet as well as program 2 – Stress & stress management.

Karin Brodin

Karin Brodin, Behavioral specialist
As a Behavioral specialist with a degree in psychology, Karin has worked with health matters in different forms since 1996. Karin has worked at several health companies as a sports coordinator and training coach. She has many years experience of strategic health work focused on health and working environment and has been responsible for different health projects. She is a certified group and weight training instructor, personal trainer and educated in different yoga forms.

Karin is the health councelor in program 1 – Exercise/training & diet as well as program 2 – Stress & stress management.

Ingela Sundström, Health Counselor and Social Worker
Ingela is a Health counselor and a Social Worker. She has many years of experience in working with strategic health work within the educational school system and has worked a great deal with exercise motivation. Ingela has implemented and been responsible for a number of projects related to stress/stress management. Ingela is a certified group exercise instructor and a diplomed classic and energy masseur.

Ingela is the health councelor in program 1 – Exercise/training & diet as well as program 2 – Stress & stress management.
